The College’s Quality Assurance (QA) Program is designed to support registrants in maintaining their knowledge and skills throughout their careers through self-assessment and continuing professional development. The Program continues to evolve to support quality-of-care and to ensure participation enhances professional competency.
DECLARATIONS OF COMPLETION
Select registrants were required to submit QA Declarations of Completion by June 30 to attest to their fulfillment of the 2025 Self-Assessment Guide (SAG) and/or the requirements of the 2023-2025 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program cycle. The College thanks those who made their Declaration(s) as required. Those registrants who failed to make their Declaration(s) by the deadline have been notified that they must now pay a late fee and ensure their Declaration(s) are submitted to avoid targeted selection for auditing by the Quality Assurance Committee.
If you were required to make Declaration(s) this year but unable to do so due to extenuating circumstances, please contact Quality Assurance staff via e-mail at qualityassurance@cpbao.ca as soon as possible.
Share your feedback
Registrants who submitted Declarations this year are invited to share feedback regarding their experience by completing this short (2 minute) survey.
RANDOM CPD AUDIT SELECTIONS
Each year, the Quality Assurance Committee conducts audits to provide education and monitor compliance with the CPD Program requirements. Registrants who submitted Declarations for the most recently completed 2023-2025 cycle will be eligible for random selection this fiscal year. If selected, registrants will be notified by the College via e-mail and provided instructions for preparing their submission for Committee review.
CPD PROGRAM REQUIREMENT UPDATES
Registrants are reminded that the updated CPD Program Requirements, announced on July 1, 2024, are now applicable to all current and future cycles. Registrants are expected to ensure familiarity with the new requirement structure to support completion. Clarification has also been provided to assist in recording attendance at professional development programs, training courses, workshops or seminars. See here for details.
UPDATES FOR SUPERVISORS AND SUPERVISED PRACTICE REGISTRANTS
In the April Headlines, registrants in Supervised Practice were advised that their supervisors would be responsible for monitoring and discussing their fulfillment of QA requirements during their regular meetings. For additional clarity, supervisees can anticipate discussions with their supervisors regarding the components and requirements of the College’s Quality Assurance Program. It is intended that these discussions will be educational and facilitate understandings of how to complete and maintain QA obligations. Supervisors will not be responsible for reviewing supervisees’ materials to assess or determine completion.
For Supervisors – What Quality Assurance requirements must I discuss with my supervisees?
Supervisors will see minor changes on future Work Appraisal Forms and other registration resources provided by the Registration department to prompt discussions about the foundations and expectations of the QA program. Using their own experience participating in the program, supervisors should provide an open forum to promote understandings of when, why and how to complete Quality Assurance requirements, including the Self-Assessment Guide, the Continuing Professional Development Program, and Declarations of Completion. Supervisors will not be asked to review or collect a supervisee’s SAG or CPD materials, or report on completion of the requirements, but may answer questions, provide insight and clarify processes.
REGISTRANT-SPECIFIC MATTERS
In the fourth quarter (March 1, 2025– May 31, 2025), the Quality Assurance Committee continued to monitor and address matters concerning registrant participation in and compliance with the QA Program:
- 4 Random CPD Audits were concluded without the need for further action.
- 4 Peer Assisted Reviews were concluded without the need for further action.
