STATEMENT BY THE CPBAO

Today, the Board of Directors of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) held a constructive discussion regarding proposed changes to modernize registration requirements.

The Board of Directors approved the following changes:

  • Registration as a psychologist based on a graduate degree from Council-approved programs, including accreditation by College-approved accrediting bodies
  • Council approval of accrediting bodies internationally, beyond the United States
  • The removal of the minimum four-year work experience requirement for candidates with a Master’s degree, replacing it with a one-year minimum

The outcome of this vote will now be shared with the Minister of Health for consideration.

We thank all who contributed thoughtful feedback throughout the consultation process.

We will continue working with partners to explore evidence-informed approaches that support fairness, labour mobility, and improved access to care for Ontarians.
