Applied Behaviour Analysis Regulation Update

On July 1, 2024, the province of Ontario reached a significant milestone as the Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis Act, 2021 was proclaimed into law. The Act signifies a culmination of efforts towards ensuring greater access to ABA services and the assurance of safe, quality care for the public. The proclamation of the Act reflects years of collaboration between the College, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

In tandem with proclamation of the Act, the College changed its name to the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. The College’s website can now be found here: www.cpbao.ca.

The College is pleased to welcome the 1300+ Behaviour Analysts that preregistered. The College continues to receive applications for Transitional Routes 1 and 2, which will remain open until June 30, 2026. The Entry Level Route (Supervised Practice) will open soon (Date TBD).

Applicants can visit the FAQ and How to Apply: ABA pages of the College’s website for further information about becoming registered as a Behaviour Analyst in Ontario. Please refer to the Registration Guidelines for information specific to each route.

The application portal can now be found here: https://applications.cpbao.ca. Psychologists and Psychological Associates who are members of the College will access the application portal via their existing member account.
