Behaviour Analysts Appointed to Non-Voting Council Seat

The College of Psychologists is pleased to announce that Dr. Kendra Thomson and Mr. Conrad Leung have been appointed as non-voting members to the College Council representing the profession of Applied Behaviour Analysis.

At its March 2022 meeting, the College Council approved the addition of two Behaviour Analysts as transitional, non-voting members to participate in Council meetings. These appointments begin with the next Council meeting in June 2022 and continue until proclamation of the Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis Act, 2021. Upon proclamation, members of the profession will have the opportunity to elect Behaviour Analysts to serve as full members of the College Council.

In preparation for proclamation of the Act, the College is developing the regulations and policies necessary for the regulation of Behaviour Analysts. Once these receive Council endorsement, they will be submitted for government approval. In striving to ensure that all proposals are in keeping with its public protection and public interest mandate and consistent with the nature of the profession of Applied Behaviour Analysis, Council believed it was important to add representatives of the new profession to the College governance structure.

The College would like to thank the many very qualified Behaviour Analysts who responded to the College’s “Call for Interest” and hope there will be opportunities in the future to take advantage of their talents and interest.
