Call for Interest in Statutory College Committees for 2020 – 2021

Submissions Due by May 8, 2020

Dear Members,

The College is beginning the process for selection and appointment of members who are interested in serving on College Committees beginning in June 2020. The Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, requires the College to have seven Statutory Committees: Executive; Registration; Inquiries, Complaints and Reports; Discipline; Fitness to Practice; Quality Assurance; and, Client Relations. If you are interested in serving on a Committee for the coming year, we are interested in hearing from you.

The Executive Committee is elected by the College Council from the members of the Council. The remainder of the Committees however, require the involvement of members of the College who are not members of Council to join with the elected and public members of Council to further the College’s work. Both titles, Psychologist and Psychological Associate, must be represented on every Committee.  A brief description of each Committee’s composition, role and functions as well as anticipated time commitment, may be found on the College website at: Call for Interest in Participation in Statutory Committees [link no longer active].

Involvement on College Committees provides members with an opportunity to take an active role in the self-regulation of the profession. Committee members are volunteers, although there is a per-diem for meeting attendance and reimbursement for expenses such as travel, meals and accommodation in accordance with the College’s Per Diem Expense Claim Policy. A copy of the policy is available upon request. In addition, Committee participation may be counted toward one’s Continuing Professional Development requirement. (Section A – Professional Activities; specifically, A6a Serving on College Council or Committee or Psychological Association Board or Committee – 5 credits per membership on Council, Board or Committee to a maximum of 15.)

Selection of non-Council members is based upon the current needs of each Committee and the appointment of a mix of experienced and new members. The College also seeks to ensure diversity in areas such as location of practice, nature of practice, population served, languages spoken and years in the profession.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you are currently on a Committee and wish to return for another term you must reapply as consideration for reappointment is not automatic.

If you are interested in serving on a Committee, please complete the online application form at the link below and indicate your preferred Committee (1st and 2nd choices may be given). In addition to your preferred choices, the application form asks you to provide a brief statement outlining your background, experience and interest as well as relevant qualifications for the Committees selected.

CLICK HERE [link no longer active] to use the online application form to submit your expression of interest by Friday, May 8, 2020.

Unfortunately, we often receive expressions of interest from more members than we have Committee openings. As a result, we may not be able to find an opportunity for everyone, but we greatly appreciate knowing of your interest.

Thank you.
Ms. Caitlin O’Kelly
Assistant to the Registrar
