Certificate of Registration for a Psychologist Authorizing Autonomous Practice

Annual Fee: $1,200

Members holding this certificate have met all of the requirements of registration as a Psychologist and may practice autonomously (e.g. without supervision) as a Psychologist within their authorized areas of practice.

Certificate of Registration for a Psychologist Authorizing Interim Autonomous Practice

Annual Fee: $1,200

Members holding this certificate are registered to practice as a Psychologist in another Canadian jurisdiction and are able to practice in Ontario, without supervision, for a period of up to 12 months, within their authorized areas of practice. This permits the individual seeking a Certificate of Registration for a Psychologist Authorizing Autonomous Practice, to practice the profession while they prepare to write the College’s Jurisprudence and Ethics Examination (JEE). Successful completion of the JEE is a non-exemptible requirement of registration.

Certificate of Registration for a Psychologist Authorizing Supervised Practice

Annual Fee: $600

Members holding this certificate have met the education, good character and language fluency requirements of registration and have secured two members of the College as supervisors and an Ontario work setting. Holders of this certificate must practice within their authorized areas of practice only under the supervision of the College approved supervisors as they prepare to qualify for a Certificate of Registration for a Psychologist Authorizing Autonomous Practice.

This certificate expires 12 months after the date it was issued.

Certificate of Registration for a Psychological Associate Authorizing Autonomous Practice

Annual Fee: $1,200

Members holding this certificate have met all of the requirements of registration as a Psychological Associate and may practice autonomously (e.g. without supervision) as a Psychological Associate within their authorized areas of practice.

Certificate of Registration for a Psychological Associate Authorizing Interim Autonomous Practice

Annual Fee: $1,200

Members holding this certificate are registered to practice as a Psychological Associates in another Canadian jurisdiction and are able to practice in Ontario, without supervision, for a period of up to 12 months, within their authorized areas of practice. Members holding this certificate have met the education, supervised work experience, good character and language fluency requirements of registration and have secured two members of the College as supervisors and an Ontario work setting. Holders of this certificate must practice within their authorized areas of practice only under the supervision of the College approved supervisors as they prepare to qualify for a Certificate of Registration for a Psychological Associate Authorizing Autonomous Practice.

This certificate expires 12 months after the date it was issued.

Certificate of Registration for a Behaviour Analyst Authorizing Autonomous Practice

Annual Fee: $795

Members holding this certificate have met all of the requirements of registration as a Behaviour Analyst and may practice autonomously (i.e., without supervision).

Certificate of Registration for a Behaviour Analyst Authorizing Supervised Practice

Annual Fee: $550

Members holding this certificate have met the education, good character and language fluency requirements of registration and have secured one member of the College authorized for practice as a Behaviour Analyst as their supervisor, and an Ontario work setting. Holders of this certificate must practice only under the supervision of their College approved supervisor as they prepare to qualify for a Certificate of Registration for a Behaviour Analyst Authorizing Autonomous Practice.

This certificate expires 12 months after the date it was issued.

Academic Certificate of Registration

Annual Fee (Psychology): $600

Annual Fee (ABA): $397.50

Members holding this certificate must occupy a full-time or regular academic position on the faculty of an Ontario University. Members holding this certificate may not provide intervention, assessment or consultation services to individual clients, groups of clients, or organizations and may not supervise persons in providing those services.

Inactive Certificate of Registration

Annual Fee (Psychology): $298

Annual Fee (ABA): $238.50

Members holding this certificate have ceased to practice on a temporary basis and may not practise the profession or supervise others in the practice of the profession. Members with this certificate may return to autonomous practice within two years by paying the prorated fee for the year. After two years, the request is automatically referred to the Registration Committee.

Members with this certificate are asked to participate in the Mandatory Quality Assurance Program and complete the Self-Assessment Guide and document Continuing Professional Development.

Retired Certificate of Registration

Annual Fee (Psychology): $62.50

Annual Fee (ABA): $50

Members holding this certificate have ceased to practice on a permanent basis but wish to maintain membership with the College. Members holding this certificate may not practise the profession or supervise others in the practice of the profession, however, they may continue to use their title modified by “Retired”.

There are no Quality Assurance requirements. A request to return to autonomous practice is automatically referred to the Registration Committee.

Effective June 1, 2021, members with this certificate are permitted to teach psychology classes, not to include supervision of student’s clinical work.
