The College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario has reached a significant milestone in its commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives. Recently, the EDI Working Group presented its completed Health Equity Impact Assessment to Council, which has been formally approved. This assessment signifies a pivotal step towards the development of a comprehensive EDI plan for the College.
Conducted over several sessions earlier this year, the Health Equity Impact Assessment highlighted notable achievements in integrating EDI principles within the College’s framework. These include the establishment of a dedicated Working Group, extensive consultations with various College committees, and the collection of membership data. These efforts have laid the groundwork for future EDI initiatives aimed at enhancing policies and practices across the College.
Moving forward, the EDI Working Group will focus on crafting an EDI plan based on the findings and recommendations from the assessment. This plan is expected to further bolster efforts in promoting fairness, inclusivity, and non-discrimination within the College’s regulatory responsibilities. As the College continues its journey towards excellence in regulatory practices, the commitment to advancing EDI standards remains a core priority.

Presently, the EDI Working Group is reviewing and prioritizing EDI initiatives and goals. We are now developing an EDI plan, which will be connected to the College’s Strategic Directions. As part of our plan we are dedicated to training our staff, Council and Committee members. We look forward to keeping you all updated on our EDI journey.
The next meeting of the EDI Working Group is scheduled for end of September 2024.
